There are lots of websites offering legal information.

Searching on Google offers hundreds of websites. You need to check that the site you are accessing is a reliable source of information, and not just a forum for people to express their views of the law.

To know if a website is reliable, look for the logos of Community Legal Centres, legal organisations, or government departments.

Here are some websites that offer a range of reliable legal information:

  • Victoria Legal Aid – This site also explains VLA guidelines and policies and provides access to a range of plain English publications.
  • Law Institute Victoria -This site has information about legal issues as well as understanding court processes and how to get a lawyer.
  • The Law Handbook Online – This site has information on Victorian laws and policies.
  • Youth Law – information aimed for young people, parents, and youth workers.
